Vignette: Branco (Montenegro)

Before coming to the US, just a few years ago, Branco spent some time in the Caribbean. He likes it better here. He thinks he'll stay, and he might become a citizen.

The day the high tech stock market crashed, Branco worked in a restaurant in Sunnyvale that catered to the high-end Silicon Valley lunch crowd. "Here were all these people who were losing all this money, and they just had lunch. They weren't worried. That's when I thought, this is a strong country. I think I'll stay."
