Byxbee Park lies at the seam of San Francisco Bay and the urban environment of the San Francisco Peninsula. Off to the east Mayfield Slough and the tidal marshes give way to open water.

The old Palo Alto marina lies in the crook of Byxbee Park. The marina silted in when the airport (immediately to the northwest) was created.
