Love Letters and Cabbage Leaves: Tour Route

We ride by bus under Route 440, then up onto South Mound, where we are let off to admire the view—mostly of the other mounds.

The second leg of the tour takes us from South Mound to North Mound, from where we have a view of the Davis Wildlife Refuge, the Isle of Meadows, which is a bird Sanctuary, and the Arthur Kill beyond.

Finally, we drive a loop around East Mound before being taken back to the parking lot at the entrance to the dump.

Most of the passengers are from Staten Island, but there are others besides myself who have traveled considerable distances, including a visitor from Philadelphia and a landscape architecture student from Boston.
