      Self-Service User Experience (Intuit, 2007)
Large-scale study of the user experience of the panoply of online human resources tools, with a special focus on talent management tools, through a series of interviews with employees in different roles, locations, and stages in their careers.

 
      Organizational Culture Study (Archstone-Smith, 2006-07)
Discovery of organizational process structuring the goals and activities of people in a pivotal middle management role in a national and fast-growing real estate management compnay, using a combination of focus groups, individual interviews, and contextual inquiry.

 
      User-Centered Navigation for Apparel Website (The Gap, 2006)
Combination of inter/active focus group and individual interviews, including a card-sort, to understand how people think aobut and shop for clothes.

 
      Technical Support Study (Intuit, 2006)
Study of self-service patterns, informal support networks, and collaboration practices, to optimize online resources complementing internal technical support service.

 
      Fashion Shopping Preferences (The Gap, 2006)
Lab study, including a card sort, to understand online fashion shopping preferences of young women professionals and young mothers, to inform the information architecture of a new ecommerce site and develop a user-centered categorization system to facilitate browsing.

 
      Collaboration Centers (Intuit, 2006)
Structured interviews to explore opportunities to introduce social computing tools in a best-practice organization, with a view to altering the collaborative landscape within the organization.

 
      Workforce Self-Service Tools (Intuit, 2005)
A series of studies to understand how to deploy a variety of HR self-service tools for different types of employees and managers, including a learning management system, a benefits overview tool, and a data analysis tool.

 
      New Product Exploration (Microsoft, 2004)
Lab study to explore opportunities for new product offering involving sharing of digital photos, videos, and music, consisting of a structured interview and a participatory design component.

 
      Portal Customization (Intuit, 2004)
Series of research projects with an eye to user segmentation and persona development, focusing specifically on engineers and customer service reps, with an eye to understanding how to serve these users more effectively within the framework of an existing portal.

 
      Apollo (Microsoft, 2004)
Home studies and phone interviews to evaluate the design of a beta product. Deliverables included an analysis of the product fit with particular user profiles, usability findings, and recommendations for product adjustments.

 
      Benefits and Claims (Blue Shield, 2004)
Card sorts and participatory design sessions as part of an effort to develop requirements for a benefits and claims viewing tool.

 
      White Rabbit (Startup, 2003-04)
New product exploration to gauge the market opportunities for a startup offering high-quality motion footage stock. Interviews took place in participants' office environments and were analyzed in Business Recommendation document.

 
      PC Companion (Microsoft, 2003)
A series of phone interviews designed to provide a better understanding of the relationship between TV viewing habits, internet usage, and a variety of home entertainment activities. Deliverables included interview summaries and an analysis of behavior patterns and interesting exceptions for further investigation.

Essential use cases, information architecture, page schematics, and interaction rules for an online benefits and claims viewing tool for Blue Shield policy holders. (As of January 2005, the application has not been launched.)

Essential use cases, information architecture, wireframes, interaction rules, and content inventory for a series of interface adjustments to accommodate localized content in corporate portal.

Heuristic evaluation, test plan, usability sessions, and recommendations for workflow adjustments in a seriously flawed online system to manage performance reviews. Trained application designers to conduct usability evaluations as part of routine design activities.

Classic usability study focusing on information architecture, navigation, nomenclature, interface consistency.

 
      Site Assessment (Palo Alto Jazz Alliance, 2003)
Study to gauge the usability and utility of an existing website, as a basis for developing a strategic recommendation for site redesign.

Baseline and follow-up to determine whether an intranet redesign was an improvement in terms of task completion and user satisfaction.

 
      Collaboration Tool Use (Lucent, 2000-01)
Adoption study to gauge the causes of a sudden dropoff in participation following launch of a new tool, including ride-along user research with the consulting engineers to client sites.
